Philotheca myoporoides ‘Winter Rouge’ – Wax Flower

 

A hardy and compact small shrub with bright green aromatic foliage, in late winter it bears masses of pink buds which open to the white starry flowers, often blooming till the end of spring. This is a great feature shrub that can also be used as a cut flower. It adapts well to a wide range of environments. Plant it near paths where the pleasant aroma of the foliage will be released as you brush against it, also looks good in large pots. At its best in a partly shaded position. Cut the plant back by 20-30% after flowering to encourage compact growth. Once it is established it is reasonably tolerant of dry spells and moderate frost.
