A variable banksia from Western Australia, it has a lower shrubby form around 2 metres tall that grows from a lignotuber, and a larger small tree to large shrub around 8 metres tall. The flowers are a bright, attractive orange gold colour, from mid spring to early summer. The foliage is interesting too, blue grey and deeply notched, making it a decorative shrub even when not in flower. It is best in a well drained soil and a sunny spot.
