This species is excellent for coastal gardens as it withstands strong winds, being native to exposed granite outcrops around Albany, WA. It is also great for a variety of other situations, particularly as windbreaks and for erosion control, and is quite a fast growing banksia. It has dense, lush green foliage and large yellow flower spikes, and grows to a medium or large shrub.
Needs well drained soil, light to heavy, and part to full sun.
It is very sensitive to humidity and poor drainage, and will not survive in such conditions. Banksias are phosphorus sensitive, so a good native fertiliser is best when it comes to feeding time.
