A small shrub with beautiful dusky pink or purple nodding flower heads, Banksia nutans is an excellent ornamental for Mediterranean climates. It is also useful for controlling erosion.
Needs a very well drained soil and can be susceptible to dieback in areas with humid summers. It can tolerate most frosts and does well with a light pruning if necessary. Banksias are phosphorus sensitive, so a good native fertiliser is best when it comes to feeding time.
