This delightful and showy everlasting daisy is a perfect addition to a wildflower meadow style of garden, for habitat gardens for butterflies and bees and other insects, for picking for fresh or dried flowers. Plants also look good in pots and hanging baskets.
It grows in a wide range of areas in Western Australia, and is one of the contributors to the tourist attracting wildflower display there every year after good autumn rains. An annual plant, it has furry leaves and stems and clusters of flowers with yellow centres surrounded by pink papery bracts in late winter, spring through to summer (depending on the time that seed is sown). The flowers dry well for use in flower arrangements and other uses. Pick stems to be dried in the morning or during the day and hang upside down in an airy place until dry.
SEED SOWING – Seed is usually sown in autumn to winter in subtropical areas, sow in spring and autumn in temperate to cold areas as the plant is frost tender. Plant direct where they are to grow or in pots, rake in lightly but do not cover seed too deeply with soil, keep moist but not wet until germination.
The Gardening With Angus seed range is a mix of species that are either wild sourced from licensed harvesters or superior species selections grown in cultivation. The seeds are thoroughly tested for quality, viability & germination. They are meticulously cleaned followed by oxygen deprivation storage, before being sealed for freshness within a heat sealed seed sachet.
