This species is a member of the tea tree family endemic to the summit of Mount Bellenden Ker in the Wooroonooran National Park in Queensland. It is an attractive and useful shrub for the garden, being adaptable to a range of soils and climates. The new growth has a beautiful bronze colour and the plant produces masses of white flowers in spring and early summer. In its native habitat it can reach heights of up to 13m, but it tends to be much smaller in cultivation, reaching heights of around 2m. It forms a compact shrub and responds well to a yearly pruning to maintain its shape. The leaves are also lightly scented.
