This rush-type plant grows in dense clumps, with striking green foliage ending in feathered tips which create an attractive display. Produces bronze flowering stems in Summer, these can be used for indoor floral arrangements or left on the plant to create a striking mass display. The seeds of the common form provide an attractive food source for native birds such as finches. Ideal for gardens and landscape planting, and also suitable for container planting. Extremely versatile in all regards, it can be grown in full sun or full shade and is moderately frost tolerant. It grows well in moist boggy areas and shallow water with little to no maintenance. In containers or dry areas it performs best in partial to full shade with regular watering.
