This Western Australian species has proved adaptable to the eastern States, and is well worth growing as an ornamental for its unique pendant flowers, which hang down from the stems unlike most banksias. The flowers are a rich brown colour in bud, opening to yellow. It is a medium shrub with dense, lush green foliage and stunning golden new growth.
Can tolerate some drought and frost once established, and some coastal and wind exposure. Banksias are phosphorus sensitive, so a good native fertiliser is best when it comes to feeding time.
