arm weather pests and how to control them in non-toxic ways
Summer is a time when pest activity is often at a maximum so keep a careful watch for sucking pests such as aphids and thrips. The first sign is usually the appearance of distorted growth in the growing tips or flowers and on closer examination the insects can be found. A handy way to spot them is to take a sheet of white paper and tap the plant against it, causing the insect pests to fall onto the paper where they are much more visible. Using environmentally friendly products such as soap sprays (eg Natrasoap) and pest oils can deter the majority of such pests.
