  Sowerbaea juncea - Vanilla lily

A perennial plant that forms a grass like clump, and gets swathes of pale mauve flowers with a beautiful vanilla perfume through spring. It has attractive blue green thin leaves which contrast nicely with the flowers. Likes a sunny position with moist soils for best performance. A great plant for edging ponds, in rockeries and for containers. While it is commonly called a lily, it does not get tubers, but has a fibrous root system. Naturally grows in sandy heathlands from Queensland down to Tasmania.
