It has bright yellow flower cones attractively held on the outside of the bush. This plant is a real magnet for birds and Pygmy possums and a fantastic garden feature plant. Flowers from late summer to early winter. A hardy bush suited to sunny and partly shaded sites, growing in well drained to dry sites including coastal and inland. It is frost hardy and tolerant of a variety of soils.

Banksia serrata – A character filled small to medium sized tree with leathery serrated leaves and creamy yellow to brown large flowers in summer. The flowers are followed by interesting pods , and the bark is lumpy and bumpy, both of which helped inspire May Gibbs Big Bad Banksia man. It naturally occurs on the east coast of Australia from southern Queensland to Victoria, plus northern Tasmania. Best in sandy soils. Great for coastal gardens as it withstands salty winds.  A good plant for attracting nectar loving birds and other wildlife, and black cockatoos like feeding on the developing cones.

Banksia integrifolia – an adaptable and beautiful banksia which will grow slowly to eventually attain tree size, and suits many different positions from coastal gardens where it will handle salt laden winds with ease, to inland cooler areas where it is frost and drought tolerant. The leathery leaves have attractive dark green colouring with silver reverses. The large lemon yellow flowers are produced from autumn through winter to spring, are nectar rich and attract wildlife, and are followed by the iconic fruit. Older specimens often have interesting gnarly forms and bark.

Banksia praemorsa ‘Wine Red’ – A great ornamental banksia, growing to a medium shrub and adaptable to a variety of well drained soils and climate zones. Impressive dark red-purple flowers. Attracts birds as well as providing shelter for them, fantastic as an ornamental in the garden, or as windbreak or coastal planting. Can tolerate winds and coastal exposure, as well as moderate frost, dry periods, and alkalinity.

Plants are grown in tubes 50mm square, 120mm deep, and are grown on outdoor benches to be sun, wind and frost hardy and ready to plant straight to your garden or bigger pots
