*** Approximately 5 seeds per packet ***

An attractive and easy care large shrub to small tree, growing from 1 to 3 metres tall and wide. It has a long flowering period, from autumn through to spring, making it a good food source for nectar loving wildlife and birds. Good on a range of soils from light sandy to clay loam.

Naturally grows from coastal Victoria to Cairns along the coast and to the ranges, which means it is adaptable to a range of conditions. Cold tolerant forms can be grown in areas such as Canberra. Rarely troubled by pests or disease. A light tip pruning when young will help form a more dense plant, once established it can be pruned after flowering as well.

SEED SOWING – Sow in spring or autumn. Sow on the surface of good quality seed raising mix and only just cover the seed with more mix, they should not be sown too deeply. Keep moist but not wet, as over wet conditions can cause the seed to rot. Smoke treatment is not necessary but may improve germination. If you decide to use it, there are smoke granules also available here, and they can be sprinkled over at seed planting time. Seed germinates in three to five weeks. If germinating in pots or punnets, prick out new seedlings at the cotyledon stage.
